Katie Jackson, CPA, CMA
Katie Jackson is the founder and sole owner of Smillie & Jackson CPAs in Springfield, Missouri. She holds a Master's in Accountancy from Missouri State University and has been serving manufacturing and commercial contracting businesses since 2010. She is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
Katie Jackson, CPA, CMA
I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, so business conversations were a normal part of life. Watching family members build companies from the ground up sparked a lifelong fascination with how businesses operate, grow, and create opportunities for the people around them.
Today, that's still my favorite part of what I do. I love digging into the inner workings of successful companies, understanding how they operate, identifying opportunities for improvement, and helping owners build financial systems that support long-term growth. Whether we're streamlining a month-end close process, implementing new accounting technology, or helping navigate a complex multi-entity structure, I enjoy solving problems that allow business owners to focus on what they do best.
After earning my Master's in Accountancy from Missouri State University in 2008, I began my career at Great Southern Bank before joining Missouri State University as a Senior Accountant/Analyst. In 2010, I partnered with Don Smillie to form Smillie & Jackson CPAs and became sole owner in 2015.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of helping manufacturing companies grow, scale, and navigate significant transitions. Our firm has served as the outsourced accounting department for manufacturers ranging from family-owned businesses to multi-entity organizations with international operations.
Outside of work, my greatest joy is spending time with my family. My husband, Dustin, and I have four children and one grandchild, and whenever possible, we're planning our next adventure. Traveling with my family is my "why." I love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating memories together.
I'm also an avid reader and lifelong learner. Our team hosts a monthly office book club, and I'm always looking for ideas and insights that can help us better serve our clients and continue improving as professionals and people.

Adrian
Adrian joined the Smillie & Jackson team in 2022 after having served most recently as the Business Manager for a church and school in Wichita, Kansas, and previously as an officer in the United States Air Force. He is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and earned his Bachelor of Science in Management from the United States Air Force Academy.
Clarissa
Clarissa joined Smillie & Jackson in 2023 after moving cross-country from Utah. She studied Theatre then Elementary Education before landing on accounting, which she has decided is the most fun. She earned her associates with an emphasis in Accounting from Utah Valley University in 2020. Before joining Smillie & Jackson, she worked as a Payroll Tax Accountant and Bookkeeper. She loves yoga and spending time with her family.
Karyn
Karyn joined Smillie & Jackson in 2023 after a transition from the medical field and she is excited for a new adventure in accounting. A lifetime resident of the Ozarks, she enjoys all things outdoors, including fishing, hunting, and camping. Her favorite way to spend her time is being with family and friends. Karyn hopes to do some traveling in the near future.
